The traditional Voice from the other side will this time belong to John Ellis, one of the most meritorious scientists at CERN, the European Laboratory for Particle Physics, where during this fall the largest scientific experiment so far will come into operation, centred around a giant proton accelerator and collider. The particle collisions will produce the highest energy densities ever created by man and mark a new step towards the recreation of the Big Bang, of the moment when the universe was supposedly born. Although the beginning/creation of the universe for now does not have a trustworthy author, we almost can not imagine a more exciting report which will be the narrative of the “magician’s apprentice” who decided to check on the Master.
»Furthermore, twisting things around, as the universe had to come from somewhere, there must be a mechanism in nature that makes universes possible. By going to higher energies, we’re getting close to realm in which our universe was created. It might be that we are still far from that point. However, without trying, without reaching out for what is feasible, we would still be hunting mammoths. I’m not saying we are better off the way we are… but I’m confident that, after embarking on the route of scientific exploration, it would be a great mistake to stop. For the fruits of scientific research have shifted society far out of the equilibrium position with the surroundings nature and it is my belief that science is the only power in human hands that can, if pursued wisely, ‘regain us the lost balance’«
