The efficacy of promotional gifts in terms of getting the word out about a company is almost scary. This is because the vast majority of consumers actually enjoy receiving these pieces. What’s more, they make use of them repeatedly, and can even remember what they were given for promotion and by whom.
The art, however, is in selecting the right thing to encourage customers to keep coming back to you to fulfill their wants/needs.
Here are three different categories of good you can select from and how/when they are a good choice.
1) Office Supplies
Office supplies are popular for many reasons.
They typically are used every day – especially if you are selling to other businesses, rather than just the average individual. It’s also nice to invest in office-related wares because they can be affordable or luxury, depending on what you want to convey/pay for.
The idea with these pieces is that you want to get something extremely useful so it is frequently seen. Durable and attractive pens, mouse pads and wall calendars are great selections. Something like a paperweight probably isn’t.
While sticky notes can be great for those who work in the administrative side of things, management types will probably like desk sets or portfolios made of high-quality materials like leather.
2) Clothing & Wearable Goods
There is a lot to love when it comes to clothing and apparel for promoting. For one, it isn’t just seen by the wearer or user; it is noticed by anyone who crosses his or her path while it is being worn. It is essentially free advertising for your organization – that is, if it’s being worn.
Here is how to choose something you can be sure customers will want to put on.
First, select good sizes. Don’t pick XXL if you’re selling hiking excursions, for instance. Most people that consume this will probably be health-conscious and thus are more likely trim and fit.
Second, make sure your garb is comfy. Soft and lightweight are two characteristics to seek out.
3) Novelty Goods
Novelty goodies encompass many things. They’re great because you can easily tailor them to whatever you sell or do.
If you are selling to a primarily male crowd, consider emergency tool kits. Pitching to the ladies? Body and spa collections are a great choice.
Consider luggage or travel-specific giveaways when you cater to clients who might do a lot of traveling. These things always come in handy and are likely to be used.
Are older folks your target audience? If so, recreationally related stock can be ideal, since they tend to have more time for leisure activities.
