· Support for the BBC Children In Need event increased
· Honda (UK) now sponsoring main stage
· CarFest North kicks off next weekend at Bolesworth Castle in Cheshire
Honda (UK) is back once again at CarFest for summer 2016. With a much bigger presence than in previous years, Honda (UK) is sponsoring the central entertainment stage with its cars sharing the spotlight with the music makers.
Raising vital funds for BBC’s Children In Need charity via a family-oriented, high-octane blend of fast and exotic cars, celebrity guests and live music from some of the hottest acts around, CarFest is the brainchild of Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans.
CarFest North takes place this weekend (July 29-31) at Bolesworth Castle, Cheshire, and CarFest South at the home of ex-Formula One World Champion Jody Scheckter, at Laverstoke Park Farm in Hampshire over the August bank holiday weekend (August 26-28).
The Honda stand will showcase the highly acclaimed all-new sports car, the NSX, straight from its media launch in Portugal where it has been put through its paces by F1 drivers Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne, who commented in the launch video, “I’d definitely like one in my garage!”
Honda (UK) Events Manager Helen Turner said: “We’re delighted to be increasing our support for such a great charity. It’s a family event and we’re very much a family focused business. We love seeing visitors to CarFest having fun and taking part in our product experiences and, of course, sporting this year’s must-have fashion accessory, the coveted Honda sunglasses.”
Also on display will be the complete range of vehicles each with a family fun activation, including the Type R sleeping lion, the CR-V emoji challenge, HR-V singalong as well as the Jazz Macarena, last seen at the Goodwood Festival of Speed at the end of June.
For fans of two wheels, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the first of four consecutive Paris-Dakar victories, Honda will be showing off the latest incarnation of its iconic Africa Twin adventure bike. Exemplifying Honda’s sporting credentials across the board, Africa Twin will sit alongside the exotic MotoGP bike for the road, the RC213V-S.
Under 11-year-olds can enjoy My First Licence: a mini-motorbike taster session that introduces young non-riders to the exciting world of motorcycling. Riding restricted 50cc Honda CRF50 bikes in a safe, controlled and fully supervised environment complete with helmets and kneepads, the experience culminates in the presentation of their own special licence.
The ATV Experience on Honda’s TRX90 continues the fun-yet-educational theme for the 12-15 age group giving them the inside line on throttle control, slaloming, overcoming obstacles and balance, while the over 16s can try the full-size TRX420.
The ride-on lawnmower challenge is also available for 16-year-olds and above, and this promises competitive, yet hilarious, head-to-head racing around a timed garden course where lane control and garbage-grabbing skills will be the order of the day.
