Honda Marine Sponsors World Rowing Championship in Slovenia in August 2011.
On 28 August 2011, Lake Bled in Slovenia will host the World Rowing Championships.
The Honda Distributor in Slovenia, A S Domzale, will support the event by providing the organisers with Power Equipment such as outboard engines for the safety boats, plus Honda prizes for the visitors.
The event will be watched by over 60 thousand visitors with over 2,500 entrants from 80 countries plus 400 journalists covering the event for the world press. The lake has become a prime location for international events since the 1950s, hosting three World Rowing Championships, two Masters’ Championships, the World Junior Championships, and the European Championships, along with numerous national championships and international regattas.
The water in the picturesque lake is constantly monitored by government scientists and is protected both nationally by the ministry of the environment and internationally, as it is in the "transition zone" around the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of the Triglav National Park. Lake transport is provided by family-run pletnas (traditional wooden oar boats); in bad weather three electric boats take over, but all other motor boats, and most watersports, are not allowed, so for Honda Marine to be selected as an equipment provider is a special honour.
Miha Setina, General Manager of the local Honda Marine Distributor, AS Domzale, said ‘ AS Domzale are proud to be the equipment provider to the World Rowing Championships as there is a natural fit with the environmental credentials and Honda products. It is an honour to be linked to such a global and prestigious event and we look forward to seeing this exciting sport take to the water. This will be the biggest water sport event in Slovenia this year and we are very excited to be part of this.
AS Domzale, will also be providing a visitor prize of a Honwave inflatable boat complete with Honda outboard engine.
Honda outboard engines were first brought to the market in 1964, when other manufacturers were only producing two-stroke outboards. They are powerful, efficient, quiet and kind to the environment, as they don’t mix oil and fuel and comply with strict RCD noise and pollution emission regulations.
