Readers of German performance magazine “sport auto” voted Honda’s Civic Type R as ‘Best Import Compact Sports Car’ in the title’s 2017 awards. Over 13,000 voters placed the Civic Type R as best in class during the voting process.
Fresh from the successful front-wheel drive lap record at the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife in April, Honda’s ‘race car for the road’ fended off competition from the Seat Leon SC Cupra 300, Renault Megane GT TCe 205 and Kia Pro cee’d GT, amongst others.
It is the second time Honda has tasted success in the “sport auto” awards with the previous generation, 2015 Civic Type R also claiming ‘Best Import Compact Sports Car’.
The new Civic Type R accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and features an optimised 2.0 VTEC TURBO engine, bringing 320PS to the road. Top speed is an increased 272 km/h with multi-link rear suspension and optimised aerodynamics package providing superior high-speed stability.
Honda SENSING is standard across the Civic range and is one of the most comprehensive safety packages in its class, featuring Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Keeping Assist and intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control.
