Curator Nicola Formichetti Unveils Winning Crowd Sourced Artists
Diesel and Nicola Formichetti have revealed the emerging artists who will transform Galeries Lafayette, Paris into an immersive gallery of crowdsourced global Tumblr art, curated by Nicola Formichetti for a spectacular ten-day event (October 14th-24th).
Formichetti – Diesel’s new Artistic Director – has selected a variety of artists working in the most progressive disciplines in the art world today. They include Roxanne Gatt (UK), Nicolas Boillat (FRA), Eva Papamargariti (GRC), Kim Laughton (CHN) and LaTurbo Avedon (USA). Scores of other creatives that have submitted on the #Dieselreboot Tumblr will see their work displayed throughout Galeries Lafayette.
This unprecedented event will see their work presented on a huge scale on the façade, interior and in the windows of Galeries Lafayette as well as with a stunning installation within the building. These artists will see their work promoted on an international stage, with the opportunity to “hack” the Galeries Lafayette ‘Carnet de Mode’ blog with Nicola Formichetti for the duration of the physical takeover.
Diesel are giving young artists the opportunity to creatively exploit the classic architecture of Galeries Lafayette with ultra-modern work, opening a dialogue between classic and emerging institutes. This forms a strong foundation of the #Dieselreboot sensibility; bringing a new band of creatives to the forefront of modern culture and championing their work. This is the fourth of Formichetti’s #Dieselreboot missions, to ‘Show me your artwork’, initiating this new phase of Diesel’s history.
