Ford Motor Company’s community relations arm, Ford Motor Company Fund (Ford Fund), is providing $10,000 for the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Go Red for Women campaign in Lexington. The check was presented during a Lexington Legends baseball game dedicated to the Go Red for Women campaign.
Ford Fund also provided a $10,000 grant to AHA last year.
The grant is part of Ford’s Operation Better World program, which is a partnership between Ford Fund and local Ford dealers. Donations through this program are targeted to organizations supporting children and families, health and veteran’s needs.
“Heart disease affects more women in Kentucky than any other disease,” said Mike Turner, Special Events Director for the American Heart Association. “We are grateful to the Ford Motor Company for continuing to support our Go Red for Women mission. Their donation, along with our many other generous supporters, will ensure that cardiovascular research and preventative education efforts will continue to help the people of Central and Eastern Kentucky.”
“Heart disease is an important, but often overlooked, issue in women’s health care,” said Katie Van Lunsen, Ford and Lincoln Cincinnati Region Zone Manager. “Since it is the leading cause of death among women, we all have been impacted by this issue, and we know that much more needs to be done.”
