Ford Motor Company has announced upgraded versions of the Mondeo that will now offer CO2 emissions reduced by up to 8 per cent, improved fuel efficiency, upgraded equipment levels and attractive pricing.
Subject to market, models equipped with the best-selling 2.0-litre Duratorq diesel engine will offer CO2 emissions from just 119 g/km – a reduction of up to 10 g/km.
Available with up to 163 PS, this means Mondeo now offers more power than its key sub-120 g/km rivals. Fuel consumption is reduced to 4.6 l/100 km from 4.9 l/100 km.*
Ford also announced improved equipment levels, subject to market variations, combined with refreshed pricing through the range:
- Mondeo Ambiente/Edge will offer 16-inch alloy wheels and Ford 6000 CD/Radio system
- Trend/Zetec models will offer SD Navigation with 7-inch touchscreen, and Bluetooth connectivity with voice control and USB connection
- Titanium models add full leather interior; while Titanium, Titanium X and Titanium S get SD Navigation PLUS – including Rear View Camera
“This is the most stylish, most practical and most luxurious Mondeo that Ford has produced,” said Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford of Europe. “Offering as standard, depending on market, features such as alloy wheels to Ambiente/Edge, navigation to Trend/Zetec and full leather interior to Titanium, delivers excellent value; and combined with improved fuel efficiency and a very competitive price, underlines the Mondeo’s position as a leader in the CD-car segment.”
Ford revised the calibration of the Mondeo’s 2.0-litre Duratorq diesel engine and optimised aerodynamics to achieve 119 g/km CO2 emissions from the saloon and 120 g/km from the wagon. The reductions will enable Mondeo customers to enjoy significant tax breaks that are offered in many European countries for vehicles with CO2 emissions of 120 g/km or less.
The improvements in CO2 emissions also benefit customers specifying 2.0-litre Duratorq engine-equipped Ford Galaxy and S-MAX models that will now offer 139 g/km CO2 emissions.
“Our engineers have worked hard to produce a Mondeo that offers both 163 PS and sub-120 g/km CO2 emissions, to deliver both power and potential tax-savings through reduced emissions,” said Barb Samardzich, vice president, Product Development, Ford of Europe. “Coupled with great real-world fuel efficiency, outstanding driving quality and Euro NCAP 5-star safety, Mondeo offers a more attractive package than ever.”
Throughout the Mondeo’s 20-year history it has attracted recognition for its leading Green technologies and credentials as a business and family car. Most recently this has included:
- What Car? Green Awards, UK, Greenest Family Car 2011 and 2012
- What Car? Awards, UK, Best Family Car 2011
- Dagens Næringsliv, Norway, Best Company Car 2011
The Ford Mondeo also provides customers with a wide array of sophisticated features including Forward Alert and Lane Keeping Alert – two Ford technologies among an industry-leading seven that have been recognised with Euro NCAP Advanced rewards – in addition to Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Information System, Adaptive Front Lighting System, Hill Launch Assist and Auto High Beam technology.
