NEC Display Solutions unveils LED-backlit MultiSync® X-series large-format LCDs
NEC Display Solutions has announced two additions to its MultiSync® X-series range, which are the market’s first LED-backlit, large-format public displays using a professional panel.
The 46-inch X461S and 55-inch X551S are equipped with ultra-thin professional public display panels with the brightness and reliability standards suitable for public display applications. Both models boast a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 and are only 43.3mm deep, making them ideal for any signage application including heavy-duty installations and integration into super slim housings.
As well as being the lighter, slimmer and more environmentally friendly than its predecessors, these new displays also incorporate NEC’s second generation Slot Technology (STv2). This makes these the first LCD displays in the world to support the new Open Pluggable Specification (OPS) – a standard developed by NEC and Intel to ease the design and development of digital signage devices and pluggable media players.
The X461S and X551S have a typical contrast ratio of 3,000:1 and 4,000:1 respectively and both have a maximum brightness of 600cd/m2 and are suitable for 24/7 usage. To ensure long-term sustained use, both employ NEC’s established thermal management system, which allows for fan activation and control and temperature monitoring via the on-screen-display or over network or serial link. Similarly, LAN control with SNMP support means that users can control the screens over the network and receive automatic email alerts in the event of a problem with the display.
“The LED backlighting not only helps create a slimmer and lighter display, but also allows for very low energy consumption. Combined with an ambient light sensor and the complete lack of any environmentally hazardous substances such as mercury, these new displays reflect the NEC ‘Green Vision’ philosophy,” said Thorsten Prsybyl, Product Line Manager, Public Displays at NEC Display Solutions Europe.
“These new displays highlight the constant innovation within NEC and are perfect for high-end retail signage applications or central information displays in hotels or conference centres.”
Both models also include the full range of connectivity options that would be expected from a professional public display, including DisplayPort, HDMI and DVI digital ports and PC, composite, s-video and component analogue connectors.
Availability and warranty
The X461S and X551S will be available starting in May 2011. Each unit includes an IR Remote Control, power cord, user’s manual on CD-ROM and quick setup guide. NEC Display Solutions Europe offers a three-year pan-European service warranty including the backlight.
