Nürburgring 24h: BMW a câştigat cursa de calificare
BMW Sports Trophy Team Schubert a câştigat manşa de calificare pentru cursa de 24 de ore de la Nürburgring (Germania). Dominik Baumann (Austria), Claudia Hürtgen (Germania), Jens Klingmann (Germania) şi Martin Tomczyk (Germania), aflaţi la comenzile #20 BMW Z4 GT3, au trecut primii linia de sosire după şase ore. Alte trei BMW Z4 GT3 au încheiat pe locurile al cincilea, al şaselea şi al şaptelea. Echipajul TKS-Motorsport s-a impus în clasamentul BMW M235i Racing Cup. Modelul BMW M235i Racing rezervat presei a fost condus de juniorul BMW Motorsport Victor Bouveng (Suedie), Harald Grohs (Germania) şi jurnalistul de motorsport Bernd Ostmann (Germania) şi a sărbătorit o evoluţie foarte bună, încheind pe locul al 25-lea în clasamentul general. A fost prima apariţie a lui Bouveng în calitate de BMW Motorsport Junior.
Trei întrebări pentru… Victor Bouveng, BMW Junior
BMW Junior este un program competiţional şi de pregătire cu tradiţie care urmăreşte promovarea de tineri piloţi cu potenţial. De-a lungul timpului acesta a contribuit la lansarea în motorsport a nume mari, care s-au remarcat şi în Formula 1, precum Marc Surer sau Manfred Winkelhock. Proiectul a fost relansat în 2014 cu renumitul pilot Dirk Adorf ca instructor şef. Absolvent al programului de anul trecut, Jesse Krohn a arătat deja mult potenţial în curesele de GT. În acest an au fost selectaţi 4 piloţi: Victor Bouveng (Suedia), Nick Cassidy (Noua Zeelandă), Louis Delétraz (Elveţia) şi Trent Hindman (Statele Unite).
Victor, cum a fost prima ta cursă în calitate de BMW Motorsport Junior?
Victor Bouveng: A fost o experienţă fantastică. M-am adaptat imediat cu rigorile echipei şi m-am simţit binevenit încă din primul moment. Sunt mândru să fac parte din programul BMW Motorsport Junior.
A fost ceva special să pilotezi modelul BMW M235i Racing rezervat presei alături de jurnalişti şi un pilot BMW de succes precum Harald Grohs?
Victor Bouveng: Am avut o colaborare foarte bună şi am reuşit să petrecem mult timp împreună şi în afara maşinii astfel încât să ne cunoaştem mai bine. Cred că va fi o echipă bună la cursa de 24 de ore. La acest moment, cursa de calificare a decurs foarte bine.
Eşti nerăbdător să-i cunoşti mai bine şi pe ceilalţi membri din programul BMW Motorsport Junior?
Victor Bouveng: Categoric. Ne-am întâlnit la trialul final, dar eram concentraţi exclusiv pe ceea ce aveam de făcut la acel moment şi nu am avut timp să ne cunoaştem mai bine. Fără îndoială, acest lucru se va schimba în lunile ce vor urma. Pe de altă parte, va fi dificil şi pentru că toţi băieţii sunt piloţi extrem de valoroşi. Abia aştept evenimentul de bun venit de la München. Fără îndoială, atunci vom avea mai mult timp pentru a ne cunoaşte mai bine.
ELMS: start de sezon pentru Marc VDS Racing Team – victorie pentru TDS Racing
Sezonul 2015 din European Le Mans Series (ELMS) a început cu prima cursă de patru ore ce a avut loc pe Silverstone Circuit (Marea Britanie). Stagiunea a început foarte bine pentru TDS Racing după ce maşina #59 BMW Z4 GT3 – pilotată de Frank Perera (Franţa), Dino Lunardi (Franţa) şi Eric Dermont (Franţa) – a pornit din pole position la categoria GTC şi a încheiat pe primul loc în clasa ei. Pe de altă parte, modelul #52 BMW Z4 GTE – înscris de Marc VDS Racing Team şi pilotat de Andy Priaulx (pilot oficial BMW, Marea Britanie), Jesse Krohn (BMW Motorsport Junior, Finlanda) şi Henry Hassid (Franţa) – s-a calificat al patrulea în clasa LMGTE şi a încheiat pe acelaşi loc după 109 tururi. Cursa modelului GTE a fost compromisă încă din primul tur, când reflexele foarte bune ale lui Hassid – cel care s-a aflat în cockpit la start – au permis evitarea unui accident cu maşinile care s-au răsucit în faţa lui în primul viraj. Un alt incident, când a efectuat un tête-à-queue fără a fi vina lui, l-a retrogradat în clasament, astfel că maşina ocupa locul al şaptelea când a urcat Krohn în cockpit. Finlandezul a revenit pe poziţia a patra, deşi a fost şi el răsucit de un alt competitor. Priaulx a dus maşina la sosire pe acelaşi loc după ce a pilotat ultima oră din cursă. "Trebuia să ajungem la final, dar nu vrem doar să terminăm, ne dorim să fim pe podium", a spus Priaulx. "Incidentele nu ne-au ajutat şi cred că, fără acestea, am fi avut o şansă bună la podium."
Blancpain Endurance Series: deschiderea sezonului la Monza, cu opt BMW Z4 GT3
Sezonul Blancpain Endurance Series season a început cu cursa de trei ore de la Monza (Italia). Opt modele BMW Z4 GT3 au concurat pe circuitul de mare viteză împotriva celor mai buni adversari din competiţiile GT europene. Întrucât BMW Z4 GT3 nu a putut să-şi arate puncte forte pe liniile drepte lungi ale circuitului, echipajele BMW Sports Trophy Team nu au avut evoluţii strălucitoare şi au ratat clasarea în Top 10 la categoriile lor. Victoria în clasamentul general a revenit unui model Lamborghini.
Nürburgring (DE), 12th April 2015. BMW Sports Trophy Team Schubert won the qualifying race for the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring (DE). Dominik Baumann (AT), Claudia Hürtgen (DE), Jens Klingmann (DE) and BMW DTM driver Martin Tomczyk (DE) in the number 20 BMW Z4 GT3 crossed the finish line ahead of the second-placed Porsche after 41 laps and six hours on the legendary Nordschleife. It was the second win in a row at the 24-hour qualifying race for the BMW Z4 GT3 after the car celebrated a one-two-three-four result in 2014.
The other three BMW Z4 GT3s also put in consistently good performances and finished in the top ten. The second BMW Sports Trophy Team Schubert car driven by Dirk Müller (DE), Alexander Sims (GB), Dirk Werner (DE) and DTM Champion Marco Wittmann (DE) crossed the finish line in fifth. The two BMW Z4 GT3s from Team Walkenhorst Motorsport finished in sixth and seventh. The number 17 car in sixth was driven by BMW works driver John Edwards (US), Michela Cerruti (IT) and Felipe Laser (DE). The sister number 18 car was shared by team principal Henry Walkenhorst (DE), Ralf Oeverhaus (DE) and Christian Bollrath (DE).
Like last year the BMW M235i Racing media car also competed in this qualifying race, in action for BMW Motorsport in cooperation with Walkenhorst Motorsport. BMW Motorsport Junior Victor Bouveng (SE) shared the cockpit with Harald Grohs (DE) and motorsport journalist Bernd Ostmann (DE). The trio finished 25th in the overall standings. The number 235 car will also contest the 24-hour race.
First place in the BMW M235i Racing Cup class went to Michele Di Martino (DE) and Moritz Oberheim (DE) from Team TKS-Motorsport. They finished ahead of the number 306 and 307 cars of Team Bonk Motorsport. Like the 24-hour race, the qualifying race won’t count for the rankings in this season’s BMW M235i Racing Cup. Only the results of the VLN races are taken into account.

The BMW Z4 GT3 has already completed many kilometres on the Nordschleife. That makes it relatively easy to find a very good set-up in a short space of time. A big thumbs up to the organisers, who I feel communicated the newly implemented speed limits very well, and made them clear on the track."

"We drove the six-hour race without any problems, which was incredibly important considering the brief time to prepare for the 24-hour race. We know the car really well after many years of racing in it on the Nordschleife. That’s a great help. This qualifying race in particular is great preparation for us drivers, since relatively few vehicles are on the track, and we can find a good rhythm on the Nordschleife. I’m confident ahead of the 24-hour race."
John Edwards (Walkenhorst Motorsport, car number 17):
"I’m delighted to have contested my first race in a BMW Z4 GT3 on the Nordschleife. Since relatively few cars were on the track compared with the VLN or 24-hour race, I was able to really test my limits. I improved steadily and felt more confident in the car from lap to lap. I knew the Nordschleife from racing other cars, but it’s a totally different world in the BMW Z4 GT3. It’s so much fun."
