ASIMO Returns To Switzerland

ASIMO made a return trip to Switzerland this week to attend the Auto Zürich Car Show, the biggest motor show in the German-speaking part of the country. ASIMO is no stranger to the Alpine region, having visited five times in the last five years – Carouge (2012), Geneva (2011 and 2009), Lausanne (2010) and Château d’Oex (2008).

ASIMO arrived in Zürich on Wednesday, where it was a star guest at the show’s opening party. At the event ASIMO joined Honda Switzerland President, Mr Hiroshi Nomura, on stage to present Olympic show jumping gold medallist, and Honda’s recently appointed ambassador in Switzerland, Steve Guerdat, with an award.

The Auto Zürich Car Show, now in its 26th year, runs from the 8th to 11th November in Messe Zurich. The motor show stretches over 30.000 m² in 7 halls, features 650 cars and is expected to attract over 60,000 visitors.

In total, ASIMO will be performing 19 shows to the public whilst in Zurich, which will feature a unique showcase of Miimo, Honda’s recently launched robot lawnmower.

Honda has a strong presence at the show. In addition to ASIMO and Miimo, visitors will see a full display of Honda cars available in the country, including the Swiss debut of the brand new CR-V. For race fans there is also a showcase of the Honda Civic WTCC, which claimed a top ten finish in its second outing in the 2012 World Touring Car Championship last weekend.
