ASIMO travelled to Sofia this week to participate in the 20th anniversary celebrations of Bultraco Honda, the Bulgarian importer of Honda cars and motorbikes. This is the first time that ASIMO has ever visited Bulgaria, so huge crowds are expected to come and see the world’s most advanced humanoid robot in action.
The celebrations are taking place in the International Exhibition Centre in Sofia over five days. On the opening day of the Exhibition – 10th May – ASIMO met many representatives of the Bulgarian media. This includes a visit to the studios of Nova TV, Bulgaria’s leading official TV channel. ASIMO also attended a VIP party on the evening of the 10th with special guests, including the Japanese Ambassador to Bulgaria, and perform a show for the crowd.
The exhibition is open to the general public from the 11th May for four days. ASIMO will perform 20 shows during its time in Sofia on a vast, purpose-built stage. Each demonstration, lasting half an hour, will offer an opportunity for visitors to see Honda’s latest advances in the field of humanoid robotics. These will include ASIMO’s ability to run, climb stairs, give and receive objects as well as dance, all displaying ASIMO’s superior agility and movement.
