Ford will offer the all-new five-seat Tourneo Connect people mover that launches later this year with the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine to deliver class-leading fuel economy.

The 1.0-litre EcoBoost, winner of numerous major awards including International Engine of the Year for 2012 and 2013, offers 5.6 l/100 km (50.4 mpg) and 129 g/km CO2 emissions* – a 12 per cent improvement over its closest rival**.

“The 1.0-litre EcoBoost is a perfect fit for this flexible family car – low fuel costs at the pump and great performance,” said Stephen Lesh, Tourneo Connect chief program engineer, Ford of Europe.

“EcoBoost is a real game-changer for family motoring. Ford customers can now choose petrol or diesel and get the ideal solution for their budget, even if they don’t cover many miles.”

The Tourneo Connect 1.0-litre EcoBoost 100 PS features a comprehensive range of Ford’s latest fuel-saving technologies as standard, including Auto-Start-Stop, Active Grille Shutter and Smart Regenerative Charging. Like all Tourneo Connect models, it features Ford’s improved-efficiency Electric Power Assisted Steering, plus a gearshift indicator and Ford ECO Mode driver information system.

The 1.6-litre Duratorq TDCi engine offers Tourneo Connect customers an attractive diesel alternative that delivers outstanding fuel economy, achieving up to 4.6 l/100 km (61.4 mpg) and 120 g/km CO2 emissions – a 25 per cent improvement versus the current model.

For customers seeking the comfort and convenience of an automatic transmission, the new model also introduces a smooth and responsive 6-speed automatic option powered by the powerful 150 PS 1.6-litre EcoBoost petrol engine.

The all-new Tourneo Connect adds to Ford’s latest generation of Tourneo people movers for Europe and offers active families an attractive and affordable new package with dynamic looks, outstanding space and versatility, along with the latest Ford passenger car technologies such as Active City Stop and the SNYC voice-activated, in-car connectivity system.

The new vehicle – also available as the seven-seat Grand Tourneo Connect – offers outstanding practicality for active users, with sliding rear doors, highly-flexible seating and a host of smart stowage areas including aircraft-style overhead lockers above the rear seats.

* The stated fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are measured according to the technical requirements and specifications of the European Regulation (EC) 715/2007 as last amended. Results in MPG also correspond to this European drive cycle and are stated in imperial gallons. The results may differ from fuel economy figures in other regions of the world due to the different drive cycles and regulations used in those markets
