The European Commission will be present at the AGRARIA 2011, the leading agricultural fair in Romania, which takes place in Cluj-Napoca, from 4 to 8 May 2011.
Throughout the five days, the Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development of the European Commission will organise a string of events and presentations at its stand.
On 4 and 5 May, Rural Development will take centre stage with a full-day programme of presentations of rural projects co-financed by the EU and focusing on competitiveness, diversification, new technologies, as well as promotion of local quality products.
On 6, 7 and 8 May, the entire day will be dedicated to cooking and food tasting using quality products from all over the EU. The famous Romanian chef Petrisor Tanase will present recipes easy to prepare containing ingredients from the EU agriculture (products bearing quality labels and organic products). The chef, together with the presenter, will encourage the audience to interact during the cooking demonstration and will distribute the prepared meals to the audience for tasting.
The EU stand will be manned with Romanian officials from the European Commission who can provide visitors with information on its agricultural and rural development policy. On a more entertaining note, there will be a quiz for visitors who wish to test their knowledge of agriculture and the EU and win a prize! There will also be a wide range of publications available on current EU agricultural topics.
