Golden Drum International Advertising Festival, organized by the Slovenian Advertising Chamber from 9-11 October 2013 in Portorož, Slovenia, celebrates its 20th anniversary as the biggest festival in the region. Festival delegates will have a chance to listen to top creative industry experts which will in three festival days present their views on the past and future 20 years of advertising industry.
Participants have a chance to register under lower Early Bird fees until 16 September 2013. Students have free entry on the first day of the festival.
Creative academies and special program for young talents
20th Golden Drum Program will host the best speakers of advertising industry and beyond; two keynote speakers have been confirmed so far: Stefan Sagmeister, world renowned New York designer who created album titles for many world musician stars like The Rolling Stones, Lou Reed, Aerosmith, David Byrne and Guggenheim Museum and HBO network and Simon Schwaighofer, Creative Director of Red Bull Creative, in-house agency of Red Bull from Salzburg, Austria, will reveal to us the background of creative projects like Red Bull Stratos.
Apart from Stefan and Simon, the festival will be enriched by lectures from Donald Gunn, Founder and General Director of world famous The Gunn Report, Folker Wrage, Regional Creative Director of agency network McCann, Rogier Croes, visionary and founder of new trends in advertising from agency network MEC, Mikhail Elagin, Chief Creative Director of Russia’s successful independent agency Twiga, Ravid Kuperberg, coach of creativity enhancement in advertising and Christian Mix-Linzer, one of the top Berlin creators of sound development for clients such as Audi, Porsche, EBay, Google, Orange and McDonalds.
Creative Academies remain the heart of the festival program, as the stage will once again be taken by the best agency networks and leading independent agencies. For the first time, Golden Drum will also host Media Academy by MEC and Digital Academy by Razorfish. Last year’s program novelty New Agenda Sessions will once again appear at Golden Drum; the first one focused on best creative stories, branding and prediction of future trends (Branded Content and Entertainment), while the second one will be about potential of creative and start-up industry. Workshops and round tables will be even more personalized with a hands-on approach, while young creatives will have a chance to visit the special EACA Advertising Masterclass. In five lectures young talents will get a chance to learn from EACA top experts like Micky Denehy, Paul Burns, Paul Arnold, Gurdeep Puri and Dietmar Dahmen, who will present their unique in-depth overview of the advertising industry. And for all those who are looking for a chance to present their CV and skills to top creative directors, Golden Drum will organize another novelty of this year: Portfolio speed dating.
Sharpest competition for the most wanted awards of New Europe
Competition this year won’t bring any big changes in its structure, which remains separated in two sections: Single Channel for works who excel in the most creative and efficient use of a single communication channel, and Multi Channel for entries which reflect the most creative integration of multiple communication channels. Enric Nel-lo, Chief General Creative Director of Digital, Gray Spain, will be President of the Single Channel Jury, while Jaime Mandelbaum, Chief Creative Director of Y&R Central & Eastern Europe, Czech Republic, will lead the Multi Channel Jury.
At two award ceremonies, awards will be given to Single Channel and Multi Channel winners in a parallel comparison between competition groups. On the first day of the festival, winners in no less than nine competition groups will receive their awards. Also new this year, the Grand Prix Award will be presented as a stand-alone award for the best entry in a group. The Golden Watch Award will this year be presented to the best Creative Director for the Campaign of the Year which will collect most points in the Golden Drum Competition.
Two Off Drum Competition for young talents: 5000 euro or a flight to San Francisco?
Young Drummers, under 30 years, can apply for the Publicis Drum Award until 17 September 2013. The best team that will in three festival days prepare and present the best campaign on a given brief, will receive the 5000 euro award. Apart from the top award, the participants of the Publicis Drum Award competition will also gain unique experience from top mentors from Publicis Groupe plus personal connections with young creatives from New Europe.
Also new this year will be the Beat the Drum for Change competition for young creatives under 30 years. At Golden Drum we believe that in our industry we have a lot of opportunities at our hands to change things for the better and for that reason we have partnered this year with DDB Budapest, as DDB is convinced that an insightful idea has the power to inspire people, change their behaviour and ultimately shape our society. The best poster, entered in the competition until 16 September 2013, on subject “Make space for the girls” will receive one entry ticket to The 3% Conference between 16th-17th October 2013 with accommodation and a round-trip flight to San Francisco, while the second and third best will receive a full registration for Golden Drum Festival 2014.
