The 17th Golden Drum, the international advertising festival and media meeting, started last night with a VIP dinner for the members of the jury and guest speakers. This year the main theme is Reconstruction. Organizers are expecting about 1.000 attendees from at least 35 countries. 34 jury members are judging almost 2.000 works already from yesterday.
TODAY AT GOLDEN DRUM
Festival started this morning at 9 am with the live presentation of media and advertising campaigns’ finalists in front of the live audience and the jury. On the other hall there is a presentation of ADFEST 2010 winners in the CUP selection. In the Creative Academy today there will be presentations on Quality, Strategy and Leadership by Michael Conrad from Berlin School of Creative Leadership followed by Matthew Bull, global executive creative director of Lowe Worldwide. The highlight of the day will be the speech of the worldwide creative director of Bartle, Bogle, Hegarty, Sir John Hegarty. His thesis became the motto of this year’s festival: »The future of advertising has been questioned. Regardless what these cynics say, our industry is about to enter a golden periods«. Members of the press can meet Sir Hegartyjem after his speech, at 6 pm in the Press Room.

EXHIBITION
At the Tartini Square in Piran there is an open air exhibition divided into three parts: entries in categories press and outdoor, 26 finalists for the best Piran Portoroz poster with the theme Genius Loci, and the ACT Responsible – social advertising exhibition, done yearly by Ad Forum.

Every day there will be Culinary Idea of the Day (light lunch) from 1 till 2 pm in the Sunset Restaurant at the 10th Floor of the GH Bernardin, LAB by Kodak (workshop with American director of photography) from 9.30 – 12.30 and from 14.30 – 17.30 in Hotel Histrion (next to GH Bernardin) and Studio Drum shooting sessions in Piran.
